Common ShareFile StorageZone Controller Installation errors

First, please be sure to check the System Requirements for the StorageZone Controller version you are installing. If you follow these instructions and my ShareFile StorageZone Controller Checklist the installation and configuration will probably take you 15 minutes and you won’t receive any of the errors below.

Here are some common things I see missed that are documented in the System Requirements.

If you see an error 404.17 means you need to run it’s probably because you installed ASP.NET 4.5 before the Web Server (IIS) role was added. In this case please run the following to reregister ASP.Net 4.5 with IIS. c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\ASPNET_REGIIS -ir

404_17 error

If you see error 404.2 this means the ISAPI and CGI restrictions for ASP.NET 4.0 has not been set to Allowed (as specified in the System Requirements).

404_2

To resolve this Open the IIS Manager console, click the primary IIS site, and then click ISAPI and CGI Restrictions. Then set each ASP.NET v4.03319 entry to Allowed.

isapi_cgi_2

When trying to log in to perform the initial configuration of the Citrix ShareFile StorageZone if you receive an error message “Unable to connect to the remote server” this is most likely due to a networking issue between the StorageZone Controller and the ShareFile Application Tier.

proxyerror

In most cases this is due to a proxy that needs to be configured for outbound connectivity. Configure the proxy on the “Networking” tab of the StorageZone configuration page prior to attempting to login on the “ShareFile Data” page.
