Citrix ShareFile folder sync issue resolved

ShareFile is Citrix’s follow-me data solution which offers both cloud storage as well as an option for an option to store data onsite in your own datacenter, or as some call it, Enterprise Dropbox. I have been using ShareFile for about a year now, in addition to solutions such as Dropbox, Box, SugarSync, SkyDrive, Google Drive and I have to say that ShareFile is my current favorite.

I recently noticed that my name had a trailing space at the end of my first name, so I logged in to the ShareFile website and edited my info to delete the trailing name. After doing this I noticed shortly afterwards that I had 2 folders on my Mac where there once was 1. One with the trailing space and one without, the newly modified one without the trailing space was syncing correctly.

However when I launched Citrix Receiver and clicked on the Docs tab any files I tried to launch gave me an error that it couldn’t find the file. I suspect it was trying to launch files from the old folder with the trailing space which was now empty as I had deleted the content to do some testing. I uninstalled Citrix Receiver (Citrix ShareFile sync client is integrated) and reinstalled. After going to System Preference and logging in it once again was creating both folders and syncing the one without the trailing space…but Citrix Receiver was still trying to launch files from the old folder with the trailing space.

Once again I uninstalled Citrix Receiver (which also removes the ShareFile components) but this time I deleted a ShareFile folder that was located at ~/Library/Application Support/ShareFile which contained two hidden files (.Device and .Users). Then I installed Citrix Receiver again, setup my ShareFile sync preferences and it was working.

Hope this might help someone else.

  1. Hello, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your blog site in Chrome, it looks fine but when opening in
Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!
    Other then that, terrific blog!
